
Kimberly Kiel has spent the past 25 years in education serving as a coach, teacher, and athletic administrator. Currently serving as the Athletic Director for Pelham City Schools, Kim is the only female system-wide Athletic Director in the state of Alabama.
She has been in this athletic administrator role for the past 10 years, and has served at Pelham High School for the past 21. Kim currently serves on the Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board of Control.
In 2018, Kim was honored as the state of Alabama Athletic Director of the Year by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA). She also served as the president of the Coaches and Athletic Directors’ Association, a member of the AHSAA Hall of Fame Committee and served on the Board of Directors for the first ever Alabama Sports Officials Hall of Fame.
In addition to her Athletic Director role, Kim also demonstrates her passion for athletics and women’s sports by serving as a high school and collegiate basketball official for the past 12 years covering 11 different college conferences. In 2015, Kim had the honor of officiating in the NCAA Division II women’s college basketball Final Four. Prior to her athletic administration career, Kim was a head coach for high school women’s basketball and volleyball, and an assistant coach for high school women’s softball and collegiate women’s basketball.
Born in Buffalo, New York, Kim moved to Greenville, South Carolina where she resided for nine years. She then moved to Dothan, Alabama and graduated from Northview High School after playing for their Women’s Basketball team. Kim went on to play college basketball for Faulkner State Junior College and the University of North Alabama. Kim lives locally in Shelby County with her dog, Barlee.
